Bodybuilding and heavy lifting is getting extremely popular especially among teens. People really care about their look and want a fit look. They are doing hard job to achieve their goals! In case you were aware of the fact that bodybuilding and increasing muscle size increases genetic hair loss, would you be continuing bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding and Hair Fall

Bodybuilding and increasing muscle volume are known to increase circulating testosterone levels in the human body. However, increased testosterone is generally not the cause of hair loss. Several other factors, such as increase in circulating cortisol levels as well as increased scalp sensitivity to DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) are needed. Exercise, is known to reduce the production of cortisol (stress hormone) in the body. In fact, DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) -byproduct of testosterone- is the basic cause of genetic hair loss. The higher the testosterone level, the more DHT your body will have and the more use of anabolic steroids/injections, artificial protein supplements and shakes, the more likely to increase your circulating DHT levels and the more likely of genetic hair loss triggering.

During your training if you notice increased hair fall, please ask your hair expert’s advice! and please do not try to be like Arnold Schwarzenegger, just try to keep in shape and do not go beyond your existing muscle volume.
