A Typical Surgery Day

After completing all paper work:

  • Staff welcomes our patients and checks the vital signs
  • Shirt is removed and patient get dressed accordingly.
  • Surgeon comes and marks the hairline and after getting the approval of the patient, hairline consent form is signed by patient.
  • Donor & recipient area preparation: Hairs are cut by trimmer. For some cases zero cut might be needed, your surgeon will decide on this. For white hairs, we apply dark hair dye to increase the visibility of the hairs.
  • We start to apply local anesthesia. As you have applied EMLA CREAM on the areas -one-hour before you come to clinic- and as we use a vibrating device to reduce the pain during injection, you won’t feel that much pain as you guess! That’s why our motto is We Trust in Experts!
  • Recipient site creation: I prefer to start to create the recipient sites first (sure there could be some exceptions) Accordingly to total graft count, this procedure might take 45- 60 minutes.
  • Graft Harvesting: Accordingly, to the preferred method either a strip is removed or the grafts are harvested one by one by FUI (FUE: ex-term) method. You need to face down during graft harvesting. No worries, we give short breaks to rest your forehead and neck during harvesting.
  • After finishing graft harvesting 5-10 minutes lunch break comes.
  • Graft implantation: Immediately after we start to plant the harvested grafts from the donor area. Depending on the total graft count, planting procedure takes 3-4 hours..
  • Discharging: Yes, at last discharge time comes! We wash the recipient area and after cleaning the donor we apply Fucidin ointment and dress the donor.
  • Post operative instructions and instruction form and prescription is given.

I am Airat Khalirakhmanov. I am the head of the Surgery Department of the health-care unit of the Kazan Federal University. In November 2019, I attended an internship with Dr. Sezgin.
